Hey! I'm Jimell and I'm a portrait photographer in the Washington DC area. But you probably already figured that out at this point. What you may not know is that I started photography a decade ago in a small studio in Old Town Fairfax. As the low man on the totem pole, I started out cleaning bathrooms and organizing shelves. Soon, that studio became a second home to me and I would spend hours playing with cameras and testing various lights. Many of my friends would come into the studio to be my guinea pigs, to practice lighting and posing. As time passed, I hustled, networked, and began assisting editorial and commercial photographers in the area. From there, I learned what avenue of photography I wanted to pursue. It’s been a long journey, one that’s only begun and is ever-changing. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My goal with this blog is to give you, the readers, a more well-rounded idea of who I am and the things I enjoy, while also providing informative content. I plan to keep this blog updated quite regularly. I'll be posting case studies of my shoots, behind-the-scenes videos, 35mm and 120 film reviews, and op-ed pieces.
